Grow Something Green in Piquinani

Water is Life

We are no longer accepting donations on this campaign, but there are other ways for you to support us today!

$5,918 towards $11,050

Piquinani is a community of 120 people who survive on subsistence farming and milk production. The poverty line in the municipality is 99% and extreme poverty at 72%. The last critical piece of development is to find enough water to irrigate and develop greenhouses to diversify their diet and produce greater income through sales of the excess production. As the proverb says (adapted for farmers) "Give some bread and you feed a man for a day. Give the gift of irrigation and you will feed him for a lifetime." EIA's project cost is $11,050. With matching funds we only need to raise $7,367. For more information on this project, click here.
